Recruiting Future Feast Is Back

Recruiting Future Feast

Greetings from Edinburgh

Welcome to the weekly edition of Recruiting Future Feast, the newsletter from The Recruiting Future Podcast.

After a hiatus and a false start, Recruiting Future Feast is now returning to you as a weekly newsletter.

In response to the fast-moving times we are currently living through, I've made some changes...

Are You FITT For The Future?

I seem to start almost every episode of the podcast with a reference to unprecedented disruption. I've been tracking trends and changes in this industry for over 25 years now (time flies!) and can't recall anything approaching the intensity of change we are currently experiencing.

With that in mind, I want to focus the podcast content on areas that will really help TA Leaders navigate the next few years. But what are those areas? What are the attributes that drive success in times like these, and what kind of insight would be most valuable?

Over the last 10 years, on Recruiting Future, I've interviewed hundreds of TA Leaders and was always struck by how similar the most successful were in the way they talked about their work. The crazy advancements in AI now mean I can now properly analyze the 300 hours of audio and 3 million words of transcripts that is Recruiting Future, and I've identified some clear patterns. The TA Leaders who really make a difference in their organization share four key capabilities:

Foresight: Anticipating future trends and proactively preparing for what's next.

Influence: Building credibility and effectively securing senior stakeholder support.

Talent: Identifying and adopting innovative approaches to attract and retain critical skills.

Technology: Strategically selecting and implementing recruiting technologies, including AI, to stay ahead.

Inspired by these insights, I've developed the FITT for The Future Framework, a simple, practical model designed to help TA leaders quickly build strategic clarity, enhance their influence, and proactively shape the future of their organizations.

We are currently experiencing the most disruptive period Talent Acquisition has ever faced, making capability in these four pillars more critical than ever.

Moving forward, I will use FITT as my roadmap for content for both the podcast and this newsletter.

Over the next week, I'll be sharing more about the FITT Framework on LinkedIn, via email, and in my presentation at RecFest UK this week. I'll be on the The Discovery Stage at 11am and would love to see you there if you're going to be at Knebworth.

I'll also provide practical resources to help you benchmark and enhance your own capabilities.

In the coming weeks, I'll be sharing lots of great podcasts, videos, and articles in this newsletter to help you get FITT for the future. This week, I'm sharing one recent Recruiting Future episode for each pillar of the framework.

Foresight

This episode is a live recording of my presentation at RecFest last year, providing a great introduction to the concept of strategic foresight and its value to TA.

I also cover Futurecasting, which is a methodology I've built to help you separate the signal from the noise, identify the trends that matter, and build a vision for the future

Influence

Ep 668 is an excellent interview about building influence and speaking the language of the CFO, featuring two of the best in the business: Madeline Laurano, Founder of Aptitude Research, and Josh Secrest, VP of Client Advocacy at Paradox and former Head of Global Talent Strategy at McDonald's.

Talent

Ep 716 was published this week and is a great conversation with Mark Linnville, Head of Talent at Garner Health. We discuss the innovative approaches Mark's team is taking to measure quality of hire and the role AI is playing in revolutionizing how we think about it.

Technology

I loved this conversation with Jonathan Kestenbaum, Managing Director of Tech Strategy at AMS, on Ep 688. He is one of the biggest thinkers in the industry on the impact of technology and didn't disappoint in this interview!

Events

I'm going to be at RecFest all day on Thursday and would love to chat with you if you're attending. I'm presenting the FITT For The Future Framework at 11am on The Discovery stage, which means there is still plenty of time after I've finished to get to the Inspire Stage to see the brilliant Rory Sutherland.

Sponsors

Recruiting Future would not be possible without the continued support of my amazing sponsors, and a big shout-out to everyone who has sponsored the podcast in the first half of 2025:

SmartRecruiters, Plum, Paradox, iCIMS, SHL, Workable, Indeed, Greenhouse, and Vonq

Recruiting Future Feast will be back next week. In the meantime, make sure you don't miss out on the latest podcast episodes by following Recruiting Future on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen to your podcasts.

Many Thanks

Matt
