So RecFest UK was absolutely epic last week! It was great to see the Talent Acquisition community out in full force, learning and networking on the hottest day of the year! It was also truly a global gathering, and I met attendees from 6 countries across three continents.

Foresight
When we are building scenarios for the future of recruiting, it's' important not to look at TA in isolation. The smartest organizations are already breaking down traditional HR silos to look at talent more holistically.
So, what does the future of HR look like? Back in January, on Ep 667, I interviewed Lucy Adams, CEO of Disruptive HR. It was a very insightful conversation and is currently the most listened-to interview on the podcast so far this year
Influence
A big part of building influence with the most senior stakeholders in your organization comes down to how well you can demonstrate the value the TA creates in the context of the company's strategic objectives. However, it's also essential to understand the human side of influence, and I can think of no better way to do that than diving into the very accessible writing of Robert Cialdini, the world-renowned psychologist, and author who is best known for his groundbreaking work on the science of influence and persuasion.
His first book, "Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion," is an absolute classic, but I would also recommend his more recent book, "Pre-Suasion." Pre-Suasion focuses on what you can do to prime your audience so they are more likely to look more favorably at your request. Perfect for TA Leaders everywhere
Talent
Many of the world's largest economies are sitting on a demographic time bomb that will see an ever-reducing percentage of people of traditional working age in their populations over the next few decades.
With that in mind, the current epidemic of ageism we are seeing in hiring is not a good thing for anyone.
So what's going on, and what should employers be doing to fight the scourge of ageism that so many people are currently experiencing?
On Episode 715, I spoke to the brilliant Maureen Wiley Clough. Maureen is the host of the 'It Gets Late Early' podcast and an advocate against ageism who is on a mission to expose this universal form of discrimination. In our conversation, she reveals practical strategies for both employers and job seekers to combat age bias while building truly inclusive workplaces that work for everyone.
Technology
Lots of people like talking about AI Agents and their potential impact on recruiting, but very few speak from direct experience of implementing this type of technology.
On Ep 711, I spoke to Simon Van Hijfte, Marketing Manager at Adecco Belgium, and Ritu Mohanka, CEO at VONQ. Simon shared how Adecco is transforming their recruitment process with AI agents and the impressive results they're achieving – from improved candidate satisfaction to enhanced recruiter efficiency. We also all discussed the shift from opaque matching systems to transparent point-based scoring, how AI agents are solving the broken candidate experience, and why this people-first approach is delivering better business outcomes across the board.
